Taraweeh is the special voluntary night prayer performed during Ramadan after the Isha prayer. It is a confirmed Sunnah (Sunnah Mu'akkadah) and can be prayed in sets of two rak'ahs. The common practice is 8 or 20 rak'ahs, followed by Witr prayer. Taraweeh can be prayed individually at home or in congregation at the mosque. Many mosques complete the recitation of the entire Quran during Taraweeh over the course of Ramadan. The prayer is performed standing, with long recitations of the Quran.
